Premium

What you get, what it costs, and whether it's worth the money for you specifically.

The app is free. Premium is a subscription that unlocks more.

Shelly markets the app as "completely free", which is true — but it doesn't explain that several features people expect sit behind Premium. Here's what actually differs.

Is it worth it?

Normal use usually doesn't require Premium. Turning things on and off, triggering on fixed times and on sunrise/sunset, building scenes, grouping into rooms and reading consumption — all of that is in the free version. Most people never hit a limit.

Premium mainly becomes interesting in one case:

Do you want to troubleshoot your electricity bill? Hourly resolution answers "something drew power this morning". Minute resolution answers "the coffee maker, 07:12". If you're hunting down unexplained consumption, the difference matters — and it's the most concrete reason to upgrade.

Beyond that it's polish: more dashboards and widgets, a longer activity log, weather forecast as a scene condition. Nice, but rarely decisive.

The trial

Three calendar months free. Use them properly: run the minute-resolution consumption view and see whether you actually miss it when the period runs out. If you don't, Basic is good enough.

When Premium runs out

Scenes built on Premium conditions stop working. They don't disappear, they just don't run. A scene sitting there looking active is not the same as a scene that runs — worth remembering if you cancel the subscription.

Where to buy and cancel

Premium is handled under Settings → Premium. Purchases via the App Store or Google Play are handled like any other subscription through the respective store — and that's where you cancel, not in the Shelly app.
